Google wanted to make 2021 I/O more than just a developer conference and created a virtual event experience called I/O Adventure. You and your avatar could explore the digital space that was modeled after the Shoreline Amphitheater. They wanted to have multiple photo booths set up throughout the digital map so users could have a fun way to share their experiences. I was tasked to design and spearhead the web app to push the capabilities of Flutter and Firebase.

There were many things to take into consideration while designing this web app. The main focus was to make it fun and feel as if you were in a photo booth with your friends. It had to be intuitive while adding characters and props but also make it easy for anyone to use and understand. Using clear directions and iconography, the desktop and mobile experiences were fun for everyone at I/O Adventure.

The photo booth was a hit at I/O with people sharing their photos on social media. It became so popular that Google brought it back in 2022 for their new I/O Adventure.
